It's a family affair: Nik Bärtsch, of course, no longer needs to be introduced to the loyal Enjoy Jazz audience. With his daughter Ilva Eigus it is still different - the emphasis is on still. The young violinist - born in 2007 - began playing her instrument at the age of three; since she was four, she has been studying with Liana Tretiakova at the Zakhar Bron School of Music in Zurich. She takes part in master classes and has won several Swiss and international competitions. When she was eight, she made her debut with a symphony orchestra. Since then she has appeared on stage again and again as a soloist with orchestras and has already acquired a versatile repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music. Ilva Eigus has mastered not only the violin but also the piano. Her passion, however, belongs to the violin. She has probably always played together with her father Nik Bärtsch in the living room - but for a while now they have also been doing it in public. And one can only marvel at the intense musical dialogue between the two, how great the mutual understanding is and how mature the expressiveness of Ilva Eigus' playing. But perhaps astonishment is the wrong expression, after all, the two have known each other for some time. In any case, one can look forward to a "Drifting Dance for Violin and Piano" and to the discovery of a coming star. After the matinee, Ilva Eigus and Nik Bärtsch will talk with journalist and scholar Aida Baghernejad about their music and everything that goes with it.
