Vijay Iyer & Nduduzo Makhathini at the BASF Feierabendhaus Ludwigshafen

Yesterday, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the acclaimed opening concert of the 26th Enjoy Jazz Festival took place at the BASF Feierabendhaus Ludwigshafen. Pianists Vijay Iyer (USA) and Nduduzo Makhathini (South Africa) performed as a duo for the first time in front of an audience of 800. Enjoy Jazz Rainer Kern was delighted: "What a concert! Two great artists meet each other full of respect and together create music that overwhelms." Under this year's motto "Healing", Germany's largest jazz festival presents daily concerts by stars of the genre such as Brad Mehldau, Pat Metheny, Youn Sun Nah, Cecile McLorin Salvant and Asher Gamedze, as well as up-and-coming artists on stages in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. The five-week festival will conclude with a concert by trumpeter Avishai Cohen at the Christuskirche Mannheim on Saturday, november 2.
