Claus Boesser-Ferrari - The Principle
Friday, november 18, 2022, Tankturm
Claus Boesser- Ferrari ( git.) Joss Turnbull (perc) and Mia Ferrari (film) have come together for an intermedia project.
The starting point of this unusual evening, perhaps also the inspiration, is the novel "The Principle" (2015) by the French writer and Concourt Prize winner Jérome Ferrari, who creates a poetry of an alternative understanding of the world from Werner Heisenberg's uncertainty principle in conjunction with important stations in the physicist's life. He is concerned with capturing a causality-blasting beauty against the background of National Socialism and Hiroshima. Sampled quotations from "The Principle" function as a kind of soundscape, which is then responded to musically as well as visually. This creates a complex audiovisual texture that plays around the linguistic material and, at its best, complements and expands it. With Joss Turnbull and Claus Boesser-Ferrari, two musicians meet who, each and with the inclusion of electronics, explore the boundaries of the playing styles of their instruments and at the same time are very familiar with each other. The result is a comprehensive sound field in which sounds, melodies, rhythms, noises and other sound phenomena meet. The dramaturgy of the evening emerges on the one hand in the spontaneous exchange of the musicians beyond any determinations, on the other hand as a reflex to the played texts and of course the film by Mia Ferrari.
