David Murray Quartet

Since coming to New York in 1975, David Murray has established himself as one of the leading saxophonists and leaders in jazz. His approach to improvisation is immediately recognizable. Even in his freest flights, he acknowledges the gravity of a tradition he reveres more than most, combining all the influences he grew up with: gospel, jazz, free/avant-garde jazz, rhythm 'n blues, R&B, and also in his connections to great American writers. David Murray's new quartet launched in January 2023 with week-long, sold-out shows at the Village Vanguard in New York. The critics agree: he is at the peak of his powers!
