Marcin Wasilewski Trio

The three musicians in this trio were born in the mid-1970s, a good ten years after the great blossoming of the Polish jazz scene around Andrzej Trzaskowski, Tomasz Stańko and Krzysztof Komeda. The Marcin Wasilewski Trio can be described as the legitimate heirs of this era: The first album from 1995 is entitled "Komeda", the collaboration with Stańko brought the international breakthrough. In the history of Polish jazz, there has never been a band like this, said the trumpeter, who died in 2018. It was the joint performances and albums with Tomasz Stańko that turned a technically brilliant, classical piano trio into a band that was open to experimentation and avant-garde ideas. Wasilewski, Sławomir Kurkiewicz (bass) and Michał Miśkiewicz (drums) have now been on stage together for 30 years. And they do what all great musicians do: From the common space of experience and trust, they continually undertake excursions into the unknown.
