On 16 August, the great Aretha Franklin passed away at the age of 76. The Queen Of Soul thrilled people with her powerful vocals and radiant stage presence. Her songs were the soundtrack of the black civil rights and women's movements of the 60s and 70s, and with her cover version of "Respect" she advanced to become the leading symbol of equal rights for men and women. We take a bow to a sensational singer who shaped soul like no other. Rest in peace, Aretha!
