Vijay Iyer & Nduduzo Makhathini at the BASF Feierabendhaus Ludwigshafen

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, starting at 8 pm, the 26th Enjoy Jazz Festival will open at the BASF Feierabendhaus Ludwigshafen. In co-production with the BASF cultural program, Germany's largest jazz festival will then present a world premiere: pianists Vijay Iyer (USA) and Nduduzo Makhathini (South Africa) will play a duo concert for the first time. Iyer brings South Asian and West African traditions, Makhathini South African music and his spiritual background to this special collaboration. Both artists will give further concerts with their trios during the course of the festival, and Makhathini can also be heard as this year's "Artist in Residence" in a solo concert at Enjoy Jazz in cooperation with Carnegie Hall (New York City).
