Sold out: Akira Sakata, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Mani Neumeier
Like countless drummers, Mani Neumeier started with Dixieland in the '50s, then took his cue from Max Roach or Art Blakey to develop his own free jazz style in the mid-'60s. He played in the Irene Schweizer Trio and was co-inventor of a new genre: Krautrock. Guru Guru became next to Can most important representative of the genre. In Japan Neumeier is a superstar. For a long time he has felt a special bond with Akira Sakata and Kazuhisa Uchihashi. Saxophonist Sakata played with the Yosuke Yamashita Trio in the 70s, and later with Bill Laswell and Peter Brötzmann, among others, in the band Last Exit. Sakata's and Neumeier's collaborative partners are innumerable.
It's a very similar story with guitarist Kazuhisa Uchihashi, also a luminary of improvised music who has collaborated with Fred Frith, Han Bennink and Aki Takase, among others. Together, Neumeier, Sakata, and Uchihashi create an irresistible force, driven ceaselessly by the search for new worlds of sound.
