Emma Rawicz: Chroma

Some people just seem to skip a few stages effortlessly. At least that's the case for 22-year-old British saxophonist and composer Emma Rawicz, who may still be in the middle of her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, but is nevertheless touring the world with renowned colleagues, leading a duo, a quartet and a big band, composing and arranging like there's no tomorrow.
She has already won several prizes and recorded her debut "Incantations" at the age of 19. "Chroma", her most recent work, was released in 2023 by ACT - a top European label. Her songs are exquisite, her sound impressively confident and her collaboration with her fellow musicians is like a dream. The harmonies with singer Immy Churchill in particular are of beguiling beauty. From jazz-rock bursts of energy to spherical meditations and lyrical melody lines, Rawicz can do just about anything.
