Erwin Ditzner's Carte Blanche

For many years, Erwin Ditzner’s “Carte Blanche” has been one of the most unconventional fixtures of the Enjoy Jazz : an evening without stylistic constraints, characterized by curiosity, risk-taking, and a trust in collaborative performance. What began as an artistic carte blanche has long since become a laboratory for encounters beyond established forms—open, unpredictable, and in the moment.

This year, the drummer is once again bringing together musicians whose artistic work embodies this spirit just as much as his own: pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach, trombonist Christof Thewes, and bassist Sebastian Gramss. What emerges from this collaboration is neither predictable nor repeatable. Or, to put it another way—and in keeping with the spirit of this format—nothing is guaranteed, but everything is possible.
