Jason Moran solo

The audience’s enthusiasm was immense, and the applause was correspondingly frenetic as the final notes of Jason Moran’s last solo concert at Enjoy Jazz at the Karlstorbahnhof in Heidelberg in 2023. The American star pianist had just played a “completely unkitschy ‘What A Wonderful World’” (Jazzthing), bringing a magnificent performance to a close that continued to resonate long afterward. Finally, the festival will once again feature “pure Jason Moran.” What a wonderful world it is in which we can look forward to experiencing Moran picking up the musical thread again at the Friedenskirche in Ludwigshafen during this year’s festival.
