Jakob Manz

It's a bit funny when a musician born in 2001 talks about his "early years" in the "About" section of his homepage. However, Jakob Manz has already experienced a lot: growing up in a musical household, first attempts at improvisation on the recorder, intensive saxophone lessons, Baden-Württemberg state youth jazz orchestra, young student at the Stuttgart University of Music at 14, part of the national youth jazz orchestra at 16, studying jazz and pop saxophone in Cologne with Roger Hanschel since 2019, performances with Randy Brecker, Günter "Baby" Sommer and Wolfgang Dauner. In 2017, Manz, together with Hannes Stollsteimer, Frieder Klein and Paul Albrecht, caused a sensation in the Stuttgart area as The Jakob Manz Project - the quartet won various prizes. No wonder: what the four of them bring to the stage is rhythmically refined, straightforward, dynamic and cutting funk, driven to ecstasy by Jakob Manz's crystal-clear saxophone solos and dipped in all pop and jazz waters. They released their debut album "Natural Energy" on ACT back in 2020, and now their debut at Enjoy Jazz: the euphoria on stage is likely to spread rapidly to the audience here too.
