Joshua Redman Quartet
Monday, May 18, 2026, Konzerthaus Stadthalle Heidelberg
Joshua Redman is one of the most charismatic and versatile jazz saxophonists of his generation. Born in Berkeley, California, the son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renée Shedroff, his music combines influences from jazz, classical music, rock, soul and world music. After graduating from Harvard (summa cum laude), he decided against a career in law in favor of music - a decision that quickly took him to the top of the international jazz scene. Since winning the Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition in 1991, Redman has worked with greats such as Pat Metheny, Brad Mehldau, Brian Blade and Christian McBride. His numerous projects - from "MoodSwing" and "The Bad Plus Joshua Redman" to the acclaimed album "Where Are We" - demonstrate his extraordinary range and emotional depth. Eight Grammy nominations, international tours and rave reviews in DownBeat, The New York Times and the San Jose Mercury Times underscore his status as one of the defining voices of modern jazz.
