Lizz Wright

With her inimitable voice, Lizz Wright is one of the most influential vocal artists in contemporary jazz and soul. Growing up as the daughter of a pastor in Georgia in the southern United States, she was influenced by gospel music from an early age, sang in the church choir, and took piano lessons. From there, her path led her to study voice and the Great American Songbook, and ultimately to an international career. In her early 20s, Lizz Wright attracted nationwide attention with a Billie Holiday tribute and shortly thereafter landed at the top of the Billboard jazz charts with her debut album "Salt" (Verve Records). Her subsequent albums also achieved high chart positions. In 2022, Lizz Wright released "Holding Space," a brilliant live album and the first release on her own independent label, Blues & Greens Records, on which she plans to promote numerous talents and newcomers who will benefit from her many years of experience in the music industry. Together with Cécile McLorin Salvant and Angelique Kidjo, Wright celebrates great singers from jazz, pop, soul, and blues in the project "Sing the Truth" under the artistic direction of Terri Lyne Carrington. In 2018, Lizz Wright last thrilled the Enjoy Jazz—we look forward to seeing her again.
