Matinee: Duo Ferenc Snétberger & Anders Jormin

In 2017, a chamber-music trio album was released on ECM that did justice to the musical ideas of guitarist Ferenc Snétberger in a subtle way and at the same time gave the two other protagonists - Anders Jormin on bass and Joey Baron on drums - enough room for their own creative impulses. "Titok" was Snétberger's second album for ECM; he put an exclamation mark on it and also opened up new possibilities for his playing. Partly improvised, partly composed, the pieces penetrate deeply into the musical heritage of the Hungarian Roma Snétberger, who worked with Arild Andersen and Markus Stockhausen, among others. At the same time, the tracks also show the versatility of this virtuoso, which encompasses (Gypsy) jazz as well as Latin American music, US jazz and classical European traditions. Especially in the Swedish bassist Anders Jormin he has found a brilliant and congenial partner: "The dialogue between classical guitar and Anders' bass playing is unique for me," Ferenc Snétberger said at the time of the release of "Titok". "Anders has a special 'voicing,' a special way of immersing himself in my music." This affinity of nature will also be felt at the matinee in the Betriebswerk Heidelberg - the intimacy on stage, the intimacy of the space, these are the best conditions for an impressive concert experience.
