Pablo Held Trio feat. Nelson Veras

Over the past 15 years, the Pablo Held Trio has built up a reputation as one of the most exciting and daring piano trios on the European scene. To avoid getting caught up in routines, the three musicians have developed a fine strategy for expeditions into the surprising: They have dispensed with preparatory arrangements or a set list that structures the concert, relying on a constantly growing repertoire of around 40 compositions that are permanently available as starting and playing material for "free" improvisations. Every concert is therefore unique. Since 2006, the trio has played countless concerts, collected important prizes and awards, recorded nine successful albums for the Pirouet label and then switched to the British high-end indie jazz label Edition Records in 2018. With the program of the corresponding album "Investigations", the trio made a guest appearance at Enjoy Jazz in dasHaus in Ludwigshafen in autumn 2018. As if to give routine another leg up, the trio has invited guests such as John Scofield, Ralph Towner, Chris Potter and - most recently - Brazilian guitarist Nelson Veras to provide inspiration or explore other instrumentation possibilities. The album "Ascent", released in spring 2020, gives a first impression of the musical synergy effects of this collaboration, but here too, of course, "the decisive factor is on the pitch". In this case, on the stage of "Ella & Louis", where you can marvel at what the Edition Records site says: "focus on deep listening and non-ego-driven communication".
