Savina Yannatou & Primavera in Thessaloniki with Lamia Bedioui
Monday, October 12, 2026, Old Fire Station
With her new album, “Watersongs”—her fifth on ECM—the exceptional Greek singer Savina Yannatou takes the stage at the Enjoy Jazz . Born in Athens, Yannatou and her ensemble masterfully blend folk song traditions with shimmering jazz improvisations, translating them into her own musical language—with soft melodies as wistful and melancholic as the blues. Her latest album centers on water—as a life-giving source, as a medium of baptism and spiritual rebirth, and as a threat during a storm. Shakespeare’s play *The Tempest*—and in particular the song of the spirit Ariel, “Full Fathom Five”—provided the inspiration for this project on the power of the sea to bring about astonishing metamorphoses, based on a melody by the 17th-century British composer and lute player Robert Johnson.
