Enjoy Jazz School Big Band

This project is our pride and joy, even though we immediately give credit to the wonderful educators Dr. Peer Hübel, Peter Jacob, and Stefan Kirsch. Where else would you find something like this: a school big band, drawn from three schools in three cities and two federal states, that performs as the headliner every year in front of a sold-out crowd at a renowned festival? We’ll tell you: nowhere! Year after year, the big band directors have to replace up to 50 percent of the ensemble due to students graduating. It feels like a modern-day Sisyphus myth. Time and again, the three educators roll a stone—carefully assembled from over forty pieces—toward the summit, only to watch it roll back down into the valley each time, forcing them to start all over again. But while what was seen as a punishment in ancient times is now accompanied by lasting success. Several members of the orchestra have since gone on to study music or even recorded albums. Hats off to them!
