SWR Kultur Forum: Beauty

SWR Kultur Forum: Beauty

SWR Kultur will be appearing at Enjoy Jazz with its renowned talk show “Forum.” The topic will be the festival’s theme, “Beauty.” For beauty is perhaps the only revolution that is constantly present. It encompasses, shapes, or influences every facet of our lives: social, moral, political, economic, ecological, and aesthetic. It can be concrete or abstract, capable of winning majority support or indivisible. For Stendhal, it is “a promise of happiness”; for Schiller, it is even the key to human fulfillment. And who knows—perhaps Dostoevsky is right when he writes: “Beauty will save the world.” The discussion will feature Melanie Wald-Fuhrmann, director of the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics in Frankfurt; Martin Daniel Feige (author of *Philosophy of Jazz*, Suhrkamp Verlag); and Rainer Kern, Enjoy Jazz of Enjoy Jazz.
