Enjoy Jazz on "1700 years of Jewish life in Germany"
World premiere with Ensemble Modern and Emmanuel Witzthum at the Nationaltheater Mannheim - melodies from the prayer book of the Mannheim synagogue destroyed in 1938
On Saturday, June 4, 2021, 7 p.m., a concert entitled "Verweile doch, du bist so schön" will take place at the Nationaltheater Mannheim (NTM). The Ensemble Modern will then premiere the composition of the same name by Israeli musician Emmanuel Witzthum in the opera house there. Entitled with the 1700th verse from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's "Faust", Witzthum integrates melodies from the prayer book of the cantor of the Mannheim synagogue destroyed in 1938. As part of his participation in the "1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany" festival, Enjoy Jazz had commissioned a composition. Advance tickets for the event are now on sale.
