Ashley Kahn: The Legacy and Impact of Miles Davis

Miles Davis (1926–1991) was one of the most influential trumpeters in music history and shaped jazz for decades with a constant stream of innovative musical approaches. As a tireless innovator, he created landmark albums such as “Kind of Blue” and, at the same time, became a dazzling musical icon whose life was marked by great successes, upheavals, and contrasts.

In “Kind of Blue – The Making of the Miles Davis Masterpiece,” music historian, author, and producer Ashley Kahn takes an in-depth look at the creation of this jazz classic. Kahn teaches at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music. In addition to his work as an editor and journalist (including for *Rolling Stone* and *The New York Times*), he produces documentary films.
