Theo Croker: Miles Davis Mixtape featuring Gary Bartz and Ego Ella May
Tuesday, november 3, 2026, Saalbau
Which songs would you include on your personal Miles Davis mixtape? To mark the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth, U.S. trumpeter, composer, producer, and bandleader Theo Croker pays tribute to his great role model with an artful homage to the superstar of jazz. Featuring a selection of tracks from Miles’ various creative phases—from the legendary “Kind of Blue” album to “Concerto de Aranjuez” and “Bitches Brew”—Croker combines his own arrangements and artful trumpet riffs with recordings of Miles’ original vocals and special guests: Alongside the exceptional singer Ego Ella May, who sings classics such as “Somethin’” from his album “Love Quantum” with her melodic alto voice, or “Blue’n’Green” —a version of the “Kind of Blue” classic with lyrics—the 85-year-old Gary Bartz, who played in Miles’s sextet in 1970, will take the stage as a guest of honor.
A pre-concert talk will take place at 7:15 p.m.
