Enji
Thursday, 23. October 2025, theHouse
Songs that touch us are often an expression of the artist's personal oral history. Enji's music has precisely this core in the sense of a force that connects everything and everyone. The singer recently told the Guardian: "Every day when my parents came home from work in the factory, they would meet up with a group of friends in our yurt to relax and someone would always start singing. Soon we were all joining in, singing old folk songs to keep us warm and expressing ourselves deep into the night." Community in and through music as material for a global career: she grew up in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, studied jazz in Munich, created a monument to her homeland with the album "Ulaan", astonished the world with it ("Jazz singers like this rarely sound so unpretentious, original and free", New York Times) and stormed the relevant best lists around the globe. She comes to Enjoy Jazz with her latest album "Sonor": beautifully shaped compositions of velvety delicacy, optimistic, discreetly enveloping to listen to and at the same time of tear-jerking clarity and openness.
