The SZ got to the heart of the matter: "This voice is an event! It belongs to Jelena Kuljić, born in 1976, who is known not only as a singer but also as an actress. She has been performing in musical theater productions on the country's leading stages for 20 years - at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Berlin Volksbühne and the Vienna Burg. In addition to this, however, she also performs in a duo with bassist Greg Cohen or with the band Kuu!, which includes Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima and award-winning drummer Christian Lillinger. They are also part of the "Fundamental Interactions" project, which Olga Reznichenko and Tim Dahl are joining: With great improvisational freedom, in the field of tension between electronic and avant-garde, Kuljić moves through the themes of homeland, language and identity with her own lyrics and poetry by poets from the former Yugoslavia. And he does so with sensitive phrasing, multi-faceted expressiveness and jazz-inspired rhythm. Truly an event.
