If one sensory organ is lost, the others develop all the more strongly. At the age of 14, Richard Andersson lost his sight. What hardly attracted him before, music, became the most important form of experience and expression. In the meantime the 41-year-old is one of Denmark's most sought-after bassists and composers, trained at the Manhattan School of Music, among others, sideman of Rudi Mahall, Bob Moses or Tony Malaby and leader of his own bands. His album "U-Synlig" is based on an experiment: via audio description, he intensively engaged with ten works of art in order to transform the colors and motifs that were invisible to him into sound formations.
They have become virtuoso solo recordings, with an artistic richness that approaches the palette not only of painters:inside, but also of great solo bass works. At the concert in the dark, the musical images in the head can be transformed back into visual ones - a grandiose expansion of perception through reduction.
