Matti Klein Soul Trio
Friday, October 30, 2026, Franz Danzi Hall
In cooperation with the Schwetzingen Jazz Initiative
Jammin’ in the Name of the Lord: With plenty of groove and a real passion for playing, vintage keyboard master Matti Klein presents his new album, “Soul Trio Bouncin’ In Bubbleverse,” on the Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes. The title roughly translates to “Bouncing Around in the Bubbleverse” of social media’s tiny filter bubbles and algorithms. “We’re constantly bouncing around in there,” explains Klein, born in 1984, who has toured with the funk-jazz band Mo’Blow and arranged music for Herbert Grönemeyer, among others. With his Soul Trio, founded in 2017, the Berlin-based musician has dedicated himself to ’70s soul-funk. Klein describes the unique aspect of the new album as “echoes”: the trio takes elements from the song they just played and incorporates them into the new track in a transformed form. In this way, the stories evolve into shared narratives, serving as the foundation for a drawn-out, condensed collective jam. Definitely danceable.
