At the successful press conference on 05.07. at the Europäischer Hof, festival director Rainer Kern announced the festival programme 2019! This year's artists also show that the Enjoy Jazz Festival appreciates tradition but also promotes innovation and creativity. This year's festival will be opened by Carla Bley Trios, reunited in a quartet with Billy Drummond. The finale will be performed by the Greek Eleni Karaindrou with a large ensemble. The performance by Jan Bang & Ensemble Modern at the Karlstorbahnhof is just one of the concerts by this year's Artist in Residence. He will give several concerts at the festival, such as with his group Dark Star Safari. But the anniversary programme of Enjoy Jazz is also great as usual: Besides well-known Enjoy Jazz regulars like the Pablo Held Trio and the award-winning Theon Cross, you can look forward to the young German electronic artist Apparat , or the internationally known guitarist Cory Wong, who convinces with his minimalistic, twangy funkyness. Other programme highlights include Dee Dee Bridgewater, Yazz Ahmed, Mark Guiliana as well as "Drumming" by Steve Reich and many more exciting guests and performances.
